Abstract

This article examines the Vademecum per il trattamento delle fonti orali through the case study of the Archivio orale dell’Istituto Interregionale di Studi e Ricerche della Civiltà Appenninica, recov-ered and reused within the PRIN-PNRR project Space and Time in Oral Archives. The analysis addresses challenges not fully anticipated by the Vademecum: complex attribution of author-ship, reliance on orphan-works provisions, GDPR constraints on sensitive data, and strategies for community restitution. By comparing guidelines with field practice, the article highlights both strengths and gaps, proposing updates to support legally sound and ethically responsible reuse of historical oral archives.
