Abstract

This volume explores the role of prosody in the teaching and learning of German as a Foreign Language (GFL) in Italy from a contrastive German-Italian perspective. Although prosody is central to spoken communication, it remains insufficiently systematised in GFL teaching and teacher education. The contributions bring together theoretical, empirical and didactic approaches from phonetics, linguistics and foreign language instruction. Particular attention is paid to contrastive analyses of German and Italian prosodic structures, their relevance for identifying interference phenomena, and their potential for developing targeted teaching strategies. The volume aims to strengthen the integration of prosodic competence into GFL instruction at Italian universities.
