Abstract
In this communication, we propose a brief excursus of the touristic guides and web pages concerning Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa, two villages in the Lucanian Dolomites listed among “Italy’s most beautiful boroughs”. We will investigate the discursive construction of silence going through a series of isotopic oppositions – high vs low, horizontality vs verticality, light vs darkness – which are part of the discourse of “silent permanence” of the summits, whose evocative names – L’Aquila Reale, L’Incudine, La Grande Madre, La Civetta – refer to a phenomenology of the space which builds the aesthetic categories of the immense, depth, poetical imagination.
